Healix ConneX is a new proposition that offers an alternative to traditional PMI offerings, and was created following a conversation between Healix CEO Ian Talbot and handl Group CCO Chris Chatterton.
This conversation led to a potentially game-changing idea that would bring together two brands from the handl Group portfolio, a number of Healix’s partner brands, and technical knowhow from across our group to create a new product that solves a very pressing problem.
In this case, the problem is access to healthcare following the Covid-19 pandemic. Workers report higher levels of stress and anxiety, waiting lists for simple NHS services have vastly increased, and only 11% of people are able to access private services through employer insurance schemes.
Furthermore, the acceptance of digital platforms as a method of accessing an ever broader range of services has risen, leading to a real opportunity for early movers in this space.
They identified three problems they’d like to tackle:
1. Higher levels of stress and anxiety from remote working, and MSK issues from improper home work spaces
2. NHS waiting lists of over 6,000,000 and rising with reduced affordable access to care pathways
3. No access to PMI funded care for 89% of the UK workforce
To meet both aims, Mark chose handl Group.
Solving these three problems in a cost effective way would lead to happier, healthier and more productive employees across the UK resulting in fewer lost working days. A solution and employer is able to reap the benefits from.
At its core, the proposition would be digital access to mental health, physio and virtual GP services, supported by access to actual clinician appointments on a national basis.
handl Group would provide two of the core services and the national networks, Healix would provide two more partner brands, and host the final platform.
That platform would be called Healix ConneX.
handl Group would provide much more than business introductions to help Healix Connex deliver on its potential.
Drawing on our experience of building collaborative partnerships we incorporated the Mind Right mental health proposition and EQL digital physio service with Healix’s suggested partners TrustDoc and Wrkit to provide accessible, affordable, round-the-clock care.
We’d then apply our ‘clicks to bricks’ proposition to power the platform. EQL’s PHIO technology and Mind Right’s mental health triage platform would allow Healix ConneX to assess a user’s problem and then plug them into a network of over 5,000 experts, supported by appropriate self care tools.
And it’s this ability to bundle treatment with diagnostics that really set the Healix ConneX proposition apart, as Chris explains.

With our brands providing specialist medical know-how, handl Group also provided technical expertise. Our in-house UX and UI teams helped improve the entire user experience, while our marketing teams and C-suite helped with everything from promoting the new service to helping streamline the features and functionality.
