How we got a handl on 2019
2019 has been a successful year here at handl Group - we’ve built on our mission to bring organisations into the Group and help them grow.
We’re taking a closer look at how the year unfolded, there was no shortage of big events, from our company and website rebrand and our acquisition successes, to the individual achievements and collaborations across all of our fantastic brands.
We decided 2019 was time for a facelift and with the help of our very own Group marketing team, ‘handl Communications’, we set about transforming from FL360 to handl Group. The handl branding better reflects the business and what we offer, celebrating the connections between our services. Our goal was to shape the Group to become a key partner for the insurance, legal and healthcare markets and empower businesses to challenge the status quo, do things differently and evolve to meet the needs of their customers.
Recruiting the best people
The quality of the people we work with is one of the secrets to our success. In 2019 we added several new faces to the team, most notably in March we took on Daniel Franklin in the field of Mergers, Acquisitions and Investments. Dan brings a wealth of knowledge to this role having held board level positions across numerous mid-market businesses. Working alongside the rest of our management team, he uses his vast experience and wide network to bring new businesses into handl Group as we continue to acquire exciting businesses and transform the industries we work in.
Acquisition of Harrison Associates
In April, we were delighted to bring Harrison Associates into the handl Group. Harrison’s is a market-leading provider of case management, expert witness and rehabilitation services, a perfect accompaniment to our other services. Utilising our know-how when it comes to transforming how businesses think and operate and the management of supply chains, our aim is to support Harrison’s management team in achieving further growth as they enter new markets and grow existing accounts.
Launching Phio, the Pocket Physiotherapist
We’ve always maintained that technology has a transformative effect on the industries we work in so we were proud and delighted when EQL revealed Phio to the world in June at their debut launch party at the Google Campus in London. Phio is a revolutionary chatbot that thinks and acts like a Physiotherapist. Designed to improve patient outcomes via an app, it reduces the need for human intervention and increases efficiency, fast-tracking patient care.
In August, we celebrated as Harrison Associates became the first ever UK company to be recognised by the world-renowned independent accreditor, CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) for both its Case Management and Expert Witness Services. This was the third time that Harrison Associates has received the award, and really helps to showcase our brands and their dedication to being leading lights within their industries.
The Cobalt Way
Our focus on innovating within our industries continued when Coplus unveiled Cobalt, their latest development in motor claims management, at an exclusive launch in October. Cobalt was brought to the market in order to re-engineer the claims process, providing a scalable solution spanning repair and injury that enables its 24:7 call centre personnel to make quick, well-informed decisions about the best action for the policyholder, following a motor accident.
November saw our second acquisition of the year, when we welcomed Advanced Child Care Assessments (ACCA) Ltd into our Group portfolio. They’re already an industry-leading provider of expert social work investigation and assessments but utilising the support of handl Group we’ll enable ACCA to achieve further growth as they address new markets, expand its panel and reach a wider nationwide audience.
Personal Injury Awards
It was hard to miss handl Group’s presence at the PI Awards on 27th November with not one, but four of our brands shortlisted as finalists. Last year we celebrated as Speed Medical took home the coveted ‘Medicolegal Provider of the Year 2018’ award. This year, Speed Medical was in the running once again for the same category, alongside recently recategorised Tier 1 agency MLA, and Harrison Associates. Harrison Associates was also in the running for ‘Rehab Provider of the Year’ alongside leading case management provider Corporé.
As you can see, it has been a busy year, and going into 2020 we will continue to look for opportunities to deliver our strategic plan. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our staff and brands for all your hard work and constantly leading the way within our markets, and we look forward to working with you in the new year.
