handl Group celebrates its brands’ success at the 2020 PI Awards

Handl Group celebrated in its brands’ successes last night at the Barker Brooks PI Awards. The annual awards ceremony provides a unique platform to highlight and celebrate the excellence of individuals and organisations across the personal injury sector and we are filled with enormous pride to announce that two of our portfolio brands are confirmed winners in their categories.

Corporé, a multi-award winning independent rehabilitation case management and treatment provider, has been awarded the win for ‘Rehab Provider of the Year’, and Medical Legal Appointments (MLA), an independent medical reporting agency, has scooped the highly coveted ‘Medicolegal Provider of the Year’ award.

The awards celebrate high standards of practice and inspire others to emulate the achievements demonstrated by those shortlisted and this year was an outstanding year for handl’s brands in the shortlist of finalists. Not only were Corporé and MLA finalists and winners in their categories, Speed Medical was also shortlisted as a finalist in two categories, ‘Medicolegal Provider of the Year’ and ‘Rehab Provider of the Year’.

Corporé wins for Rehab

Since a high profile disaster in the UK in 2017, Corporé has led the design and delivery of a large scale highly bespoke case management service specialising in complex injury and large loss rehabilitation, meeting the needs of over 150 survivors and witnesses of the tragedy.

Their renowned and unrivalled Major Incident Rehabilitation Service (MIRS) has supported the survivors of many high profile serious incidents, including train derailments, the Novichok poisoning and the Manchester Arena bombing. For this work, last year Corporé was also awarded the Insurance Post’s ‘Claims Initiative of the Year’ at the Royal Albert Hall ceremony.

In announcing the win last night, a representative of the judging committee commended Corporé’s “crucial service in the aftermath of a high profile event, demonstrating innovation, excellent governance and exemplary leadership to deliver timely and tailored rehabilitation services”.

MLA wins for Medicolegal

With a history spanning 30 years, we believe that MLA is the UK’s longest serving medical reporting agency. The unrivalled leader of Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) medical reporting, Industrial Disease and Military Injury medical reporting, MLA made history this year becoming the very first MRO to begin as a Tier 2 MedCo provider and be successfully re-categorised as a Tier 1 MedCo provider. No mean feat given the complexities, governance and KPIs required to make the grade in the top tier.

Thirty years in the business teaches you a lot about customer expectations and the team at MLA has a heritage built on the delivery of superb customer service, with the judges noting their commitment to going “above and beyond showing great…response to the Covid-19 pandemic” and describing MLA as a business that is “extremely competent and sets a high standard of innovation”.

They are now famed for medical reporting “The MLA Way”!

How we handl it

Congratulations to all our finalists and the winners on the night.

Our CEO, Graham Pulford, comments:

“In what has undoubtedly been a challenging year for all UK businesses, handl Group’s brands continue to thrive and excel. A commonality that runs like a thread through each brand is a commitment to stringent governance – whether that be clinical governance in a healthcare company, such as Corporé, or the complex business governance required to operate within highly regulated environments at Speed Medical and MLA. Through the support structures that handl Group offers to each brands’ leadership team, businesses are enabled to challenge and exceed industry norms and so demonstrate agility, creative thinking, an entrepreneurial spirit and the confidence and conviction to deliver their promise to their customers. This awards success has been testament to that. Well done to all our finalists and winners.”
